I began studying HPV self-testing as an improved alternative to the Pap in 2010. Nearly 15 years later, I’m so excited to join the Teal Medical practice to finally be able to offer this in the US!

REAL STORIES, REAL COMFORT

What patients say about the Teal Medical providers.

My experience with Teal Health has been so great! Testing at home was much more comfortable than an in-office pap and mailing was simple. I really appreciated meeting with my Dr. Swenson because she took the time to answer all of my questions and put me at ease. I feel I have had a better experience with Teal than any of my in-person providers!
As I expected, this was much more comfortable and convenient than a gynecologist visit. What surprised me is what a positive experience the human interaction (telemed) was. The provider was caring, thorough, and amazingly knowledgeable on issues that mattered to me, but that so many previous providers had brushed off.
Easy to use. The provider was very friendly and easy to talk to. Answered all questions and have clear instructions.
Questions we hear most

The things that come up.

The Intro Visit is a brief virtual appointment with a Teal Medical provider. It takes place entirely over video from your home. During the visit, the provider reviews your screening history, discusses the at-home collection process, and prescribes the Teal Wand kit if you are eligible. There is no physical component. You should receive your kit within about a week of completing the visit.

Yes. If questions come up at any point during your at-home screening experience, you can message Teal Medical providers or the support team through your portal. You do not need to schedule a separate appointment to ask a question.

Yes, Teal Medical Practice has Spanish-speaking providers. If you prefer to receive your cervical cancer screening care in Spanish, you can filter for providers when booking your appointment through the Teal portal.

Every set of results is reviewed by a Teal Medical provider before being released to you. Your results will be available in your Teal portal approximately one week after your sample reaches the lab. They will include a written note from a Teal Medical provider explaining what the results mean and advising on next steps or when to screen again.

Teal Health follows national screening guidelines. If results indicate follow-up care is needed, you can meet virtually with a Teal Medical provider to discuss next steps and coordinate referral care.

Yes. Teal Medical providers are trained in trauma-informed care principles. They follow the patient’s lead, explain each step before it happens, and never push for information the patient is not ready to share. If in-person follow-up is needed, Teal maintains a network of clinicians vetted for sensitive exams.

Provider assignment may vary based on state licensing and availability. All Teal Medical providers are held to the same standard of care, are trained in the same protocols, and are equipped to support you through the full screening process. If you have a strong preference, you can note it when booking your visit.

No referral is required. Teal’s telehealth platform provides everything you need to screen from home: the provider visit, prescription, kit, lab testing, results review, and follow-up support. If you have an existing provider, we encourage you to share your results to maintain a complete health record.

Yes. If your results require in-person follow-up, your Teal Medical provider will help identify an appropriate local clinician and coordinate the referral. Teal maintains a national network of clinicians selected for their ability to perform sensitive exams and support patients with a range of needs, including trauma histories and vaginismus. You will not be left to find follow-up care on your own.
