Technical security
The systems behind your care are built to keep your information private and secure.
Encryption
Confidential data, including all health information, is encrypted at rest and in transit, with cryptographic practices upholding NIST standards.
Minimum necessary
We only request the minimum data necessary to provide you care and access to that data is limited to only people that require it for care delivery.
Secure monitoring and development
Our platform is routinely tested and scanned for vulnerabilities.
Workforce safeguards
Everyone at Teal is committed to protecting your information.
Background screening
Personnel undergo background screening appropriate to their access.
Security training
Everyone with access to our systems completes HIPAA and security awareness training at hire and annually thereafter.
Device management
Company laptops are encrypted and enrolled in device management with active antivirus software.
Protected workspaces
Our workstation and physical security policies set clear expectations for screen privacy, secure remote access, and protecting devices when they are not in use.
Vetted vendors
Every vendor that handles protected health information is reviewed for security and signs a Business Associate Agreement.
Prioritized incident response
We maintain an incident response protocol with breach procedures that meet or exceed HIPAA requirements. Security incidents are treated as a top priority and escalated appropriately. Each incident is documented, including root cause analysis, and affected partners and individuals are notified according to HIPAA regulations, state laws, and our agreements.
