I felt incredibly relieved. After years of being unable to access pap smears and screening due to disability, it was almost absurd how fast and painless this was. It's surreal. The only point of difficulty I experienced was lacking the thumb strength needed to pull the sponge back down into place before taking the wand out--luckily I had my partner to help or I would have had to risk the contamination of just pulling it right out. Even that was just a minor hiccup and couldn't dampen my enthusiasm, though. Honestly I was so relieved that I almost felt a rebound of general angst that we haven't had something like this all along, but I'm glad to have it now. Fingers crossed that my results come back good, of course, but I'm relieved that I'll have that information either way at last and can move forward from there instead of continuing on in anxiety.
